About Sarah

Sarah is an experienced and knowledge dog owner, trainer and behaviourist with over 10 years experience working professionally with dogs. Initially starting her own dog walking company in 2015, she grew increasingly interested in dog behaviour and qualified as a Level 3 Dog Trainer in 2018. In 2020, she also qualified as a Level 5 Dog Behaviourist under the IMDTB (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers Behaviourist). Since then, she has also undertook multiple courses and is a qualified Dynamic Dog Practitioner, UK Sniffer Dogs Instructor and Canine Hoopers UK Instructor.

Sarah loves dogs and has her own 3 beautiful sidekicks, Bowser, Rosie and Pablo. She credits her dogs with teaching her sustainable, realistic and enjoyable dog ownership. You can see more about them further down this page.

Dedicated to helping pet dogs and their families thrive in a fast-paced society not designed for our four legged companions, Sarah is trained professionally to help with both foundational dog training and more complex behavioural issues including reactivity, aggression and anxiety.

How I work

As a qualified behaviourist, my approach goes far beyond standard obedience training. My value lies in working with owners who want to learn - those who are curious about the reasons behind their dog’s behaviour and are committed to building a deeper, more trusting relationship.

I don’t simply train your dog for you; I coach you to do what I do, guiding you to read subtle changes in your dog’s body language, tone, and posture so that communication becomes clearer on both sides. Together, we work on recognising emotional thresholds, preventing overwhelm, and creating an environment where learning feels achievable. Every case is approached from all angles, taking into account the dog’s learning history, environment, physical health, diet, personality type, and the owner’s own influence. This wider perspective allows me to identify underlying factors such as stress or unmet needs and create a plan that is both compassionate and effective.

Whilst I do use fair and considered consequences, my work is never focused on dominance, unnecessary corrections, or “yank and crank” methods. Flashy, fast results might look appealing, but genuine progress comes from emotional balance, trust, and consistency. My priority is always the long-term welfare of both the dog and the owner - empowering you with the skills, understanding, and confidence to nurture lasting change built on empathy and connection, rather than control.

My approach isn’t for everyone, and that’s okay - the work I do is most effective for owners who genuinely want to understand their dog, not just see quick results. This means the work can require patience, self-reflection, and commitment to learning new skills. If you’re looking for a “quick fix” or a purely results-driven approach, my style may feel slower or more involved than you expect.

The owners who benefit most from my support are those who value guidance and coaching: people who are willing to actively learn how to communicate with their dog. These owners often see lasting changes, reduced stress, and a more harmonious relationship with their dog - which is also where I find the greatest job satisfaction, knowing the progress is sustainable and meaningful.

Conversely, if you prefer someone else to “do it for you” or aren’t interested in understanding your dog’s motivations, a different training route may be a better fit. Being upfront about this helps ensure I work with people who are committed, engaged, and ready to make the process a positive, transformative experience for both themselves and their dog.

Laura Russell

Assistant Dog Trainer

Laura is a huge dog lover who came to me initially simply for the joy of training her little Chihuahua, Olive. Over time, she stayed to help out and now is a regular and friendly addition to classes where she helps out, greets clients, gives out training advice and takes most of the wonderful photos you see dominating the business Instagram feed.

Laura has a keen interest in dog behaviour, training and also canine nutrition. In her spare time, she enjoys improving her canine knowledge by listening to behaviour podcasts and attending various workshops and seminars. She has also attended the 2 day theory IMDT course and intends to continue in future. Her dedication to her dog and repping the small breeds is apparent and a joy to watch.
