5-Week 1-2-1 Working Puppy Foundations Course

For high-drive, busy-brained puppies who need more structure and direction early on
(For puppies up to 6 months of age | With Sarah - Level 5 Behaviourist)

Designed for puppies who are naturally intense, highly motivated by movement, easily overstimulated, or already showing signs of being “a lot” for their age.

This includes many working-line or higher-drive types such as Shepherds, Collies, Malinois', Terriers, Spaniels, Labradors - and some Poodle mixes.

This course specialises in:

  • Channeling drive into appropriate outlets (chasing, herding, searching, etc.)

  • Building calmness alongside engagement

  • Clear handling and communication from the start

  • Boundaries, structure, and preventing unwanted habits

  • Appropriate socialisation without overstimulation

  • Creating a lifestyle that actually meets your dog’s needs

💡 Best suited for puppies with a high-drive predisposition, those who may struggle to switch off, become easily over-aroused, or need more than just “basic training” to stay on track, or for owners who just want to get more out of their dog, regardless of breed.

1-2-1 Puppy Training

Getting It Right From The Start

1-2-1 puppy training is ideal if you want tailored support during those early, formative months. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, want to get things right from the start, or your puppy needs a quieter learning environment than group classes, these sessions are designed to give you clarity, confidence and structure.

This service focuses on foundation training, understanding your puppy, and setting healthy habits early - without pressure, overwhelm or unrealistic expectations.

Why it matters

Puppyhood is a critical learning period. What your puppy experiences now shapes how they cope with the world later.

Every puppy learns differently - sessions are tailored to your puppy’s pace, temperament and needs

You’ll receive hands-on coaching, so you know exactly what to do and why

Early guidance helps prevent small issues becoming long-term problems

You’ll build confidence as an owner, not just skills in your puppy

Training can take place in the environments that matter most (home, garden, early walks)

Think of this as building strong foundations before cracks have a chance to form.

How It Works

Our puppy packages offer structured, ongoing support during those important early months. They’re designed to give you guidance, reassurance and clear progression, helping you build calm foundations and confidence as your puppy grows.

Pay as you go puppy training is also available, but packages are recommended.

Where?

1-2-1s are held either in your home or at a public location

When?

1-2-1s are offered on weekdays (excl Mondays) and some Saturdays

Evenings are not offered

What's Included?

These 1-2-1s are tailored, but commonly include:

  • Engagement, focus and name response

  • Calm handling and co-op care

  • Loose lead foundations and early walking skills

  • Recall foundations and attention around distractions

  • Settling, switching off and rest

  • Boundaries, routines and confidence building

  • Understanding puppy body language and emotional needs

What 1-2-1 puppy training won't do:

  • Create a perfect puppy straight away - every dog is different and learns at their own pace. Your dedication and commitment to supporting and training your puppy throughout their early life and into adolescence will be what determines the outcome.

  • Aim for 'perfect' obedience - my training is realistic and functional to improve quality of life for your puppy and you.

  • Provide guaranteed results - I can give you the best advice but YOU have to put the work in in-between sessions consistently to see progress. I am in your puppy's life for a fraction of it, you are there everyday.

1-2-1s work best for those that:

  • Want personalised support rather than group classes

  • Have a puppy that may feel overwhelmed or distracted in group settings

  • Want help building calm behaviour early

  • Are keen to prevent future training or behaviour issues

  • Want reassurance that you’re on the right track
