6 Week Puppy Course
Building The Foundations
At Sarah’s Dog Training we believe the first few months of your puppy’s life are the most exciting - and the most important. Over six thoughtfully-structured weeks you and your puppy will build a strong connection, mutual understanding and the confidence to navigate real-world life together.

Why it matters
Puppies are incredibly adaptable - and what they learn (or don’t learn) in their early weeks often sets the tone for life. The critical socialisation period for a puppy is between 3 and 12 weeks, with some experts extending this to 14-16 weeks, so the earlier you can get your puppy out and about, the easier it will be to socialise them. By investing the time early, you’re not just teaching a few nice commands: you’re setting your puppy up to become a confident, reliable and sociable companion. Research shows that puppies with early positive training and socialisation are less likely to develop fear, anxiety or behavioural issues later on.

How It Works

What's Included?
Throughout this course, you and your puppy will learn how to:
-
Communicate and understand each other, setting the groundwork for a better relationship and training progress in future
-
Basic obedience, lead walking and recall, as well as how to pause or settle when asked - so you can enjoy time out together.
-
Be more relaxed around other dogs and people, understanding that greeting and interaction happen on your terms - not pulled, rushed or uncontrolled.
-
Be able to “just be” — calmly by your side, with you, rather than always in action mode. This builds a balanced dog who knows when to engage and when to settle.

This course also provides:
-
Safe, supportive exposure to other dogs and people, laying the groundwork for a well-rounded adult dog who copes better with distractions
-
Development for the human side of the partnership too: you’ll gain practical skills to read your puppy’s body language, manage their energy, encourage engagement, and lead with clarity and kindness.
-
A foundation of trust, respect and communication so that future training becomes easier, more effective and enjoyable for both of you.
What this course won't do:
-
Be the only training you ever have to do with your dog - they are learning constantly and will need consistent training in-between classes and after, including around different environments and distractions
